Switzerland's reputation in hotel management began more than 100 years ago when the first luxury hotels were built in Switzerland. The "Caux-Palace", was the largest exclusive establishment in its day. Today, the Caux-Palace is home of SHMS. Students from more than 60 different countries join the school every year to learn in a unique atmosphere, at the very source of Switzerland's hospitality reputation. In the real life environment of the Caux-Palace Hotel, there are many qualified hospitality experts that guide students through a balanced curriculum, comprising a wealth of practical elements, management expertise and languages.
As the number of students at SHMS increased over the last few decades, SHMS purchased a second campus in Leysin in 2003 and completely renovated it for instruction. The Leysin campus opened in September 2004 with state-of-the-art learning and practical facilities and accommodation for over 600 students.
SHMS's academic programs combine practical elements from all aspects of the hospitality industry with key management skills, providing graduates with the best possible foundation for their future career.
The SHMS curriculum takes an international approach to education. Within a multi-cultural classroom atmosphere, students are offered courses based upon international awareness of the industry in order to develop the ability to effectively communicate in the global hospitality environment.
